Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does the self-levelling shelf on the Self Levelling Shelf Trolley work?

The top shelf automatically changes height as weight is added or removed. As the load increases, the shelf lowers until it reaches its lowest position at 50kg; as the load drops below 50kg, the shelf rises to help maintain a more comfortable working height and reduce repeated bending.

2. What is the load capacity of the self-levelling shelf?

The shelf reaches its lowest position at a 50kg load, after which an additional 40kg can be loaded. This provides a total shelf load capacity of 90kg. The trolley itself has an overall load capacity of 300kg, so the shelf capacity and total trolley capacity should be considered separately.

3. Can the self-levelling shelf be folded away when it is not required?

Yes. The self-levelling shelf can be folded away to provide additional space on the trolley base for larger loads. This allows the same trolley to support both elevated picking and handling tasks and loads that require more open carrying space.

4. What applications is the Self Levelling Shelf Trolley suited to?

The trolley is suited to operations where products are repeatedly loaded, removed, picked or replenished throughout the working day. Typical applications include supermarkets, liquor stores and hardware stores where maintaining accessible stock at a practical working height can assist regular handling tasks.

5. Is the Self Levelling Shelf Trolley easy to move and store?

The trolley is fitted with 125mm rubber castors, including two swivel castors and two swivel castors with brakes for movement and secure positioning. Multiple trolleys are also nestable, allowing them to occupy less floor space when stored between uses.

Keep Frequently Handled Stock at a More Practical Working Height

Repeatedly picking products from a trolley can become more demanding as the load level drops and operators need to reach further down. The Self Levelling Shelf Trolley addresses this by automatically raising the upper shelf as weight is removed, helping keep remaining stock at a more accessible working height throughout the handling process.

This makes the trolley particularly relevant to repetitive picking, replenishment and product movement where stock is progressively added or removed. Rather than working from a fixed shelf height regardless of the remaining load, the self-levelling platform responds as the load changes.

Supporting Retail Replenishment and Product Handling

Supermarkets, liquor stores and hardware stores regularly move products between storage areas, shop floors and merchandising locations. The Self Levelling Shelf Trolley provides a mobile handling platform for these operations, helping keep frequently handled goods accessible while stock is being replenished, picked or transferred.

The trolley has an overall load capacity of 300kg, while the self-levelling shelf accommodates up to 90kg. This combination allows operators to use the elevated shelf for appropriate loads while retaining the trolley base for additional stock and larger items.

Adapt the Trolley to Different Loads and Handling Tasks

Not every task requires an elevated shelf. When additional open space is needed, the self-levelling shelf folds away so larger loads can be carried on the base. This gives businesses greater flexibility to use the trolley for different product sizes and handling requirements rather than dedicating separate equipment to each task.

When the job is complete, the nestable design allows multiple trolleys to be stored together more compactly. This is particularly useful in retail and back-of-house environments where storage space needs to remain available for stock, equipment and other daily operations.

Choose the Right Trolley for Your Handling Operation

Order the Self Levelling Shelf Trolley online or contact the Verdex team to discuss your application, load requirements and handling process. We can help confirm whether the self-levelling configuration is suitable for your retail, replenishment or material handling operation.
